FMCG QA Manager (K131) - Job posted 27 June, 2012

* Appropriate tertiary level qualification and extensive experience in the food sector (at least 10 years). Candidates must have held a similar level role (QA Manager) in a food manufacturer for a minimum of two years and have experience with BRC and AIB.*

Location: New Germany, KZN

Description: An international company supplying products into the FMCG market requires an experienced QA Manager to join their team. The key purpose of the role is management of the quality system to ensure appropriate measures are in place to allow the desired quality to be achieved in the company’s manufacturing process. Key duties will include: ensuring correct standards are in place and product specifications met; managing the quality system to ensure the fidelity of standards and specifications; staff management; managing the batch retention system; handling customer complaints administration; overall responsibility for customer questionnaire sections related to production, quality and quality standards; ensuring appropriate systems are in place to manage Halaal and Kosher certificates for raw materials and finished products; holding responsibility for raw material documentation (specification sheets and certificates of analysis); task management related to quality assurance; plant sanitation.

Key requirements: Appropriate tertiary level qualification (e.g minimum of ND Food Technology or BSc Food Science) and extensive experience in the food sector (at least 10 years) with this including significant quality management system experience. Candidates must have held a similar level role (QA Manager) in a food manufacturer for a minimum of two years. Experience with BRC and AIB essential, as is knowledge of HACPP and ISO 22000.

Additional requirements: Excellent communication skills; good management skills; team player; meticulous; attention to detail.

Remuneration: Market related.

Starting date: As soon as possible.

Junior Microbiologist (W154) - Job posted 27 June, 2012

* ND / B-Tech / BSc Biotechnology; 1 - 2 years routine laboratory experience (experience in food microbiological analyses preferable); have a good understanding of microbiology; experience or exposure to ISO1725 quality system environment *

Location: Cape Town

Description: A leading testing laboratory is seeking a Junior Microbiologist to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include but not limited to: assist with sample login onto the LIMS system; ensure that samples are prepared for analyses using appropriate methods; set up and conduct microbiological analyses; entering test results onto the LIMS system; compile and interpret results of tests and analyses; provide technical support and assistance to lab supervisor and lab manager; prepare media and reagents used for analyses; maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment; check consumable stock levels; assist and monitor students; check accuracy of test results; work in accordance of laboratory quality system (ISO17025); assist lab supervisor in maintaining laboratory system (verification records, control charts); understand food regulation pertaining to products tested; understand different product matrixes.

Key requirements: ND / B-Tech / BSc Biotechnology; 1 - 2 years routine laboratory experience (experience in food microbiological analyses preferable); have a good understanding of microbiology; experience or exposure to ISO1725 quality system environment.

Additional requirements: A demonstrated flexible and innovative approach to work; be able to work under pressure in a routine work environment; be able to work in a team; be able to schedule work and have organisational skills; excellent interpersonal/communication skills.

Remuneration: R7 000 cost to company per month.
